Innovator, ambassador, leader, coach, rider, friend etc... These are the words that undoubtedly describe Mike Schwene. Mike has been one of the largest influences on the west coast and continues to donate his life to the sport of wakeboarding. Now running two wakeboard schools, a pro shop and working on new product, Mike stays busy and is one of the most dedicated people in our industry. He is a huge part of Hyperlite and will continue to help the team and company innovate one step ahead.

1) If you were NOT a Professional Wakeboarder what would you see yourself doing instead? Business Man

2) Who do you admire the most? My Girlfriend

3) What was your worst injury while wakeboarding? Arm caught in the handle when I was 16

4) Tell us something that no one would know about you. I finished High School in three years and college in three and a half

5) What was your biggest accomplishment this year?

6) Describe your idea of a perfect vacation. A surf trip with my girl and a couple of the boys...no crowds, no wetsuits, and perfect surf.

7) What is your favorite fast food place? I don’t eat fast food, but there’s a local joint called taquillria Santa Cruz that is the best when you’re on the go.

9) What kind of pet do you have? My family has some dogs... I travel and work to much to have be responsible for an animal right now.

18) What was your first wakeboard? Our family had a Rusty Seahorse... the first board I bought with the money I earned from pulling nails out of decks was a Hyperlite honeycomb Levelle

22) Who is your favorite actor or actress? Mel Gibson... Brave heart

23) What is your most memorable story from wakeboarding? Spending the last 5 summers out on a houseboat with my best friends... There are so many stories I could write a novel.

24) What is the best thing about riding for Hyperlite? To be honest... being able to ride the best board ever made; the Tribute. Shaped by legend and friend Greg Nelson.

25) Any advice to the kids? Go to college, buy a boat, and never stop having fun on a wakeboard. Tell your parents thanks; because without them there is no wakeboarding.
